History of Free Tax Preparation in Nebraska
- 1975 – The first Lincoln VITA sites were at GateWay Mall and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s City Campus Union
- 1982 – Lincoln VITA expanded to the College of Law and the Lincoln Public Libraries
- 1983 – Over 100 Nebraska communities offer VITA/TCE Sites
- 1988 – First International Student and Scholar VITA sites offered
- 2001 – First e-filed returns
- 2003 – Lincoln EITC Coalition was organized
- 2015 – UNL began leading the Lincoln EITC Coalition
- 2021 – Lincoln EITC becomes a project at the Center on Children, Families, and the Law
- 2022 –Tax Credit Alliance of Nebraska was formed
